Ø  Definition

Apologies are statements saying that you are sorry for having done wrong, hurt somebody’s feeling, etc.

Ø  Some Apologies expressions      :

·         I’m Sorry!

·         Pardon..!

·         Please accept my (humblest) apology...

·         I was wrong.

·         I shouldn’t have said that.

·         My comments to you were ill-advised.

·         I made a stupid mistake...I’m genuinely sorry.

·         There is no excuse for my behavior.

·         It was not my intention to... I’m terribly sorry.

·         "I apologize, Honest and true, because I know I was wrong"

·         Please forgive me

Ø  We can apologies I different ways and in different situations, for example :

Apologies Expression	Example situation
1.       I’m sorry. I beg your pardon ( A General apology)	When you close the door in someone’s face, interrupt someone face, etc.
2.       I’m very terribly sorry I’m so sorry I’m awfully sorry ( A stronger apology)	When you step on someone’s foot or take their coat by mistake.
3.       Sorry to keep you waiting. I won’t be long/ I will talk to you soon.	Someone is waiting to see you and you are busy, with someone else.

EXCUSES

Ø  Definition

1.       Excuses are reasons given to explain or defend your behavior or reason for the apology, which may or may not be true (if it is not true, it should still be a reason that people will believe)

2.       An excuse is an explanation or a reason for an action.

3.       Excuses are used to forgive somebody for something they have done or justify somebody’s behavior.

4.       Excuse is used as an apology when you interrupt somebody, disagree, etc.

Ø  Some Example of Excuses expression

·         Do forgive me!

·         Don’t be angry!

·         Don’t lose your temper!

·         Don’t be silly!

·         Don’t think me impolite!

·         Excuse me.

·         Excuse me for coming late.

·         Excuse me for a moment.

·         Excuse me for being late.

·         How awful!

·         I’m so sorry.

·         Forget it!

·         I’m sorry to hear that.

1. His boss excused the mistake but told him to be more careful next time.

3. I was excused from jury duty.
4. The teacher excused the class from homework that day.
5. Nothing can excuse that kind of rudeness.

THANKS

Ø  Definition

Thank is used to show that you are grateful for something.

Thank is tell somebody that you are grateful for something.

Ø  Some Examples:

·         Thank you so much

·         I’m much obliged

·         I can’t express how grateful I am.

·         I’m deeply indebted to you.

·         Thanks a lot

·         Very kind of you

·         You’ve done a great for me a great favor
